2010 Conference Announcements

29-31 July: International Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning (ICTEL), Athens, GREECE

The main focus of this conference therefore is on knowledge creation and learning in networks of academia with the corporate sector. With respect to this, ICTEL’10 addresses two main questions, namely:

1. How can technology foster knowledge transfer from academia to the corporate sector; and

2. What innovative learning concepts can help improving learning at the workplace

The long-term aim of ICTEL hence is to support the development of innovative learning and knowledge creation in both higher education and the corporate sector. Regarding this, ICTEL will disseminate relevant research results, supporting these critical issues.

6-8 September: International Open and Distance Learning Conference, NADEOSA (National Association of Distance Education and Open Learning in South Africa) Annual Conference, Potchefstroom, SOUTH AFRICA

The theme of this conference is:

Towards sustainable open and distance learning in the developmental state: policy, ethics and practice.

Sub-topics include:

  • ODL and learning technologies for developing contexts;
  • Curriculum appropriateness: context and impact;
  • Creating supportive learning environments; and
  • Financing quality distance education

Apart from selected experts in the field, a number of international authorities will also be included in the programme.

13-15 September: 'Higher Education in a World Changed Utterly: Doing More with Less', OECD Programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE) General Conference, Paris, FRANCE

Against the background of the most synchronised recession in OECD countries for more than half a century, the conference will focus on how the higher education sector - governments, institutions and individuals - can lead the way to sustainable recovery. Grounded in the OECD’s highly–respected evidence base, and drawing on analysis and opinion from some of the world’s leading experts, the conference will identify ways to achieve high quality outcomes at a time of increased demand and constrained resources. Innovative approaches to meeting the challenges of equity and efficiency will be examined. Governance, resources, technology, relevance and sustainability will be among the key themes. The conference will seek to identify longer-term trends in a global context and will include analyses of national policy, institutional case-studies and the latest research from OECD and elsewhere.

25-28 October: KMIS 2010, "2nd International Conference on Knowledge Management and Information Sharing", Valencia, SPAIN

KMIS aims at becoming a major meeting point for researchers and practitioners interested in the study and application of all perspectives of Knowledge Management and Information Sharing.
