Changing Browser Preferences
You can change text size, colour and background colours by making changes in the preferences or options section of your browser. The exact details of how to do this will be different for each type of browser, so it may be necessary to experiment. The following information relates to Internet Explorer, one of the most popular Web browsers.
Changing preferences in Internet Explorer
Most versions of Internet Explorer allow you to change colours, text size and default font via the browser preferences. First, you can set the browser accessibility options:
1. On the menu bar select Tools > Internet Options
2. On the dialog box that appears click Accessibility
3. Under formatting you can check the boxes to either:
- ignore colours specified on the web page
- ignore font styles specified on the web page
- ignore font sizes specified on the web page
Preferences you set will now apply to the page you are viewing.
Internet Explorer 5 and above provides a menu for changing text size
To change text size:
1. Select View from the menu bar
2. Click on Text Size (Text zoom on Macs)
3. Select one of the text sizes from the list that appears
